Some back in the day workouts...

Week Two..Ready to Start My Engine

I just completed the second session of the six week program last night. Last night was Zumba ! A very high energy work out. I loved it. Its been a long time since I worked out regularly. Its embarassing to admit that the last time I worked out regularly was when Step Aerobics was popular. My mother, sister and I would go in our basement every evening for an hour and do the Jane Fonda Work out Videos. That was around the time that Jane Fonda only did a portion of the work out the floor exercise. I used to wear a purple leotard and everything. Lord knows I could not fit that leotard now. However, the consistent workout routine paid off because I lost alot of weight. Now  nearly twenty years later (yikes) I am looking forward to good results. I enjoy that the classes take place at my girls school. Last night it was raining and I really didnt want to go to the class. However I saw other mothers who were dressed and ready to go. I prefer Zumba to the boring, step kick right type of work out. I worked up a sweat, but I want to do better. Im unhappy with my body right now. I dont like wearing big shirts...I want to be able to tuck my shirt into my jeans. I want toned arms, and strong thighs. Most of all, I want to improve my overall health and well being.

Welcome to Small Steps to Big Rewards

Welcome to the blog !! This is a companion to the Mom Madness on Harlem Talk Radio blog, however this will focus strictly on my journey to fitness. Ive enrolled in both a six week and a six month fitness program sponsored by the Brooklyn Partnership to Drive Down Diabetes. Im ready to Start My Engine and lose twenty pounds. Im going to discuss my progress (or lack of it) and also post my food diaries. Ive never been a skinny chick, okay maybe in fourth grade, I once recall my mother telling me I was skinny. Perhaps I should not say I have never been skinny but my weight has certainly fluctuated over the years. I think I was at my best weight between the ages of 22-32.  Once my youngest turned two, my weight began to steadily climb. Right now Im very unhappy with my weight. I look forward to making necessary changes.....
